Electronic/ Bio-medical Engineer

Duty Station: Musallam Ophthalmic Center & Musallam Eye specialist Hospital
(under construction), Ramallah, Palestine

Starting Date Feb 15th 2010

Duration of Contract: 12 months renewable (with a 3-month probation period)

In October 2006, the construction of Musallam Eye Specialist Hospital in Ramallah has
begun. The Hospital is expected to provide a comprehensive eye care to the entire population of Palestine and it is expected to rank among the finest in the Arab world. The hospital building is still under construction, and will be ready in the Spring of the year 2010.

Due to growth in our medical services we now have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical
Service Engineer to work within the hospital in Ramallah. As the Biomedical Engineer he/
she will be responsible for:
• Using electronic and medical engineering skills to Install, adjust, maintain, and/or
repair a wide range of biomedical & electronic equipment
• Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment.
• Advise hospital administrators on the planning, acquisition, and use of medical &
electronic equipment.
• Advise and assist in the application of instrumentation in clinical environments.
• Diagnose and interpret bioelectric data, using signal processing techniques.
• Training nurses and senior hospital staff on using hi-tech medical equipments
• Responding efficiently to breakdown queries
Professional Knowledge & Qualifications:
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships and communication
with all levels of staff within the hospital, vendors and suppliers. Demonstrated
organizational, communication and project management skills. Ability to analyze
unexpected problems with medical equipment and to resolve them with minimum
disruption to the department.
• Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills in and English.
• Strong IT skills.
• Willing to join the required training programs locally and abroad.
• Resident of Ramallah.

Education & experience:
• A Bachelor /Masters degree in medical/electronic Engineering.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of a broad range of electronic test
equipment and medical instruments.
• Familiarity with computer programming and operation.
• Four years relevant experience including exposure to Biomedical Engineering in a
Hospital environment is required.
